What I want to be when I grow up…

This first social, a pub crawl, was a great way for everyone in the club to get together and meet each other out of the setting of lessons. After Emma and Dan ran around the bars in town to get drink deals for us, we met in parade, a bunch of teachers, fairies, dancers, superheroes, celebrities, ninjas, even royalty, for the night to begin. Although the weather was lousy, (for those who walked down the hill, it was an interesting experience) it was still a fantastic night ending in the legendary Club XL. Some of the more memorable moments that we could remember after the night of drinking had to be the dodgy dancing from Mike, Guy and Dan T to name a few, the marker pen branding running in the rain… at the end of the night I don’t think anyone was left untouched, His Majesty, Dan D, going mad with Carly’s feather duster and Dan T being hwad butted in the Saracens Head.

Cops and Robbers…

For our first score social of the year we decided to take the theme back to basics… Cops and Robbers. Black and White was as far as the eye could see. This theme proved to be a perfect way for members to show their kinky side… details not needed!

Christmas Ball…

As always with LBDC this is the ‘BIG’ social of the year, members, new and old, and guest universities arrived for the candlelit soiree at the Guildhall. Who could forget the amazing demo by James and Asia, the random matador story who no one really understands, the orgasmic tasting sausage rolls… and most of all the dancing in the beautiful Banquet Room, including the conga in our ball gowns?! At the end of the evening all female guests were presented with a red rose and the males a parcel of chocolate although a few parcels had gone walkies by the end of the night…

Xmas Social…

This was a bit of a last minute social, with the simple theme of Christmas. Apart from the few people who made no effort with their costumes (mentioning no names but you know who you are) we had a good selection of ‘interesting’ costumes, from lots of snowflakes to Jack Frost, and two ‘presents’ (which were actually just Guy and Johnny wrapped up in paper but very disappointing to unwrap). A very drunken night was had by all, with the most memorable part being Dan D attacking everyone with a can of snow spray!!

LBDC…

After a long break for exams our second trip to score was due. After much discussion at committee meetings we decided upon the theme of dressing as anything beginning with L.B.D.C. The highlight has to be Dan D and Dan T dressed as women… I don’t think anything else needs to be said… oh and Fred (Winner of the Gareth Award) with the glow sticks!

Superheroes…

As the competitive year came to an end and after confusion over Score tickets we decide to go BIG IN BRISTOL with our celebratory social, by far one of the best socials of the year. Everyone dressed as superheroes in order to celebrate the end of the competitive year and the theme was very fitting as everyone performed amazingly at IVDC. After being dropped off in the wrong part of Bristol and having to run around absolutely freezing for about half an hour, we then arrived at Mu Mus and realised it actually closed at midnight, not at 2am as we were expecting!! But we managed to prove ourselves capable social secs by hurding everyone to Lloyds afterwards…. After we mass molested a statue on the way…

After a small social for those who took Medal Tests in Easter and a trip to the theatre to see Dan D and Carolina in City of Angels, it was time for our last social as your official Social Secretaries…

The May Masked Ball…

The last big social organised by us, and like the Christmas ball was a big event, but aimed more towards fun than formality. We arrived to set up the Pump Room and greet our guests in our stylish Venetian Masks and celebrate the end of the year with everyone that we have gotten to know so well this year. There were lots of fun dances which were highly amusing as well as the coveted beginners Cha Cup, which was won this year by Dave Scrafton and Bethan Thomas.

We have had a fantastic year as your Social Secretaries and although we are sad to not be any more, we are relieved not to have all the work (and stress) of organising socials! We would like to say a big THANK-YOU to all who came on our socials as you are what made them what they were. We wish the best of luck to Shan and Matt next year, but we are sure that they won’t need it!
